DRK-Landesverband Saarland e.V.
Since 1984, the Saarland Regional Association of the German Red Cross has been involved in caring for refugees at the Lebach reception center.

In addition to caring for adults, the DRK regional association has also been offering music therapy for children living in the Lebach reception center for several years. The music therapist works with children whose families mainly come from countries with uncertain residence prospects. These families have been living in the state reception center for years and are at risk of deportation. The children can be supported and accompanied in music therapy to help them cope with their difficult everyday lives.

Children and young people are exposed to a variety of psychological stress factors in war, crisis and refugee situations. In the period following the threat and violence, they are particularly dependent on appropriate support and care in the host country.
The GRC project aims to recognise individual developmental risks and intercept psychological stress at an early stage in order to give children and young people good development opportunities in their new home country.
"We offer help with behavioural problems, psychological stress or crises and social integration difficulties. Our measures include clarifying the individual need for help, psychoeducation and stabilisation in the case of trauma-related disorders and other psychological problems, counselling for parents, caregivers or teachers in dealing with the child or young person in need and cooperation with other counselling services."
