Caritas Baby Hospital in the West Bank
In July 2024, we supported the important work of the Caritas Baby Hospital with a donation of 500 euros.
The hospital in Bethlehem is the only specialized children's hospital in the West Bank and treats around 50,000 Palestinian children every year.
Until now, young patients have had to be referred to clinics that are not geared towards children for surgical procedures - often an additional stress factor for children and families. This is set to change with the planned expansion of day surgery: In future, it should be possible to carry out plannable operations directly on site at Caritas Baby Hospital.
What is the current status of the project?
Funding for the extension has been secured since the end of 2023 and the ground-breaking ceremony took place in July 2024. This is the largest construction project in Bethlehem. The new surgery is scheduled to open in fall 2025.
How does our donation help on the ground?
Our donation of 500 euros will go towards the urgently needed equipment for the new day surgery unit. For example, 22 glove dispensers, a high chair for the laboratory and two laundry containers could be financed. Further donations are also being collected to equip the surgery with medical equipment, sterilization utensils and child-friendly furniture.
Kinderhilfe Bethlehem im Deutschen Caritasverband e.V. would like to express its sincere thanks for the valuable support of our foundation. With this donation, we are helping to provide medical and surgical care for children and young people in the West Bank and contributing to a better future for many young patients.
