RADIO SALÜ Wir helfen e.V.

For 20 years now, the Saarland radio station Radio Salü and its association RADIO SALÜ Wir helfen e.V. have been tirelessly supporting children and young people in need.

"Sternenregen" fundraising campaign

With the "Sternenregen" fundraising campaign, which has been held annually since 2004, the association has been able to collect and pass on an impressive 5.385 million euros in donations. These funds were distributed directly to needy families in Saarland to give children in precarious living conditions a better future.

According to a recent study by the Bertelsmann Foundation, one in four children and one in five young adults in Germany are at risk of poverty. The consequences are often devastating: even as children, many of those affected suffer from depression, sleep disorders and other health problems. Single parents and families with several children are particularly hard hit.

2025

This year, the proWIN Foundation is once again committed to helping Saarland children and young people in difficult life situations and is supporting RADIO SALÜ's "Sternenregen" campaign. This long-established fundraising campaign helps needy families in Saarland and makes an important contribution to supporting children and young people in need.

With a donation of 10,000 euros, the proWIN Foundation is helping to continue this valuable work. On February 6, 2026, Sascha Winter presented the symbolic donation cheque to RADIO SALÜ presenter HW Heinzer and Pastor Wolfgang Glitz.

A central component of the Sternenregen campaign is the close cooperation with Caritas and Diakonie. This cooperation ensures that the donations arrive quickly, specifically and unbureaucratically where they are urgently needed. Support is provided on an individual basis and is geared towards the specific needs of the families affected. A total of 345,144 euros was raised in the 2025 donation year through the Sternenregen campaign!

The proWIN Foundation is proud to be part of this initiative and to make a contribution to greater social responsibility, solidarity and equal opportunities for children and young people in Saarland through its commitment.

2023

The proWIN Foundation supports this important work. On December 22, 2023, the foundation presented a donation cheque for €25,000 to the "Sternenregen" campaign. This donation is part of an impressive total of 323,701 euros raised in 2023 under the motto "We are there for each other. Every donation counts!" were collected. Minister President Anke Rehlinger acted as patron of the campaign.

A key component of the "Sternenregen" campaign is the cooperation with the church charities Caritas and Diakonie. These organizations ensure that the donations received are passed on to the families in need without deductions and in full. Each individual case of need is assessed individually and the families concerned receive long-term support.

From mid-February to December 2023, RADIO SALÜ drew attention to the emergency situation in Saarland with numerous radio spots and editorial contributions. Affected families were able to share their stories, providing a direct insight into the challenges they face.

The proWIN Foundation is proud to be part of this great initiative and to support the commitment to disadvantaged children and their families in Saarland. The donation of 25,000 euros is a contribution to ensure the urgently needed help continues. Through this support, children and young people affected by poverty can be given better prospects for the future.
