Hardly anyone knows what a butterfly child is, how it suffers and how to deal with it. The disease epidermolysis bullosa has hardly been explained so that the general information and care structure must be promoted.
There are estimated to be around 2000 butterfly children here. Nobody knows exactly how many there are. Because butterfly children have no lobby. They are too few to be a lucrative target group for the pharmaceutical and medical industries. That is why hardly any paediatricians, dentists, pharmacists, health insurance companies, carers, nursery carers or teachers are aware of this disease. The proWIN Foundation is generously participating in this project.
