Families with children are particularly affected by the coronavirus crisis. Working from home, supervising home schooling and household chores have to be managed. Families with disabled children are even harder hit. From one day to the next, school, therapies and all professional care services ceased at the beginning of the coronavirus restrictions. Parents have to take care of their children 24 hours a day without any outside help.
While the opening of schools and special schools is a relief for many children and parents, many of the disabled children cannot benefit from this, as their physical or mental impairment means that they cannot be exposed to the risk of returning to their schools. The parents feel left alone. They would have to bear the costs of external care themselves, which is not possible for many. In order to cushion the worst of the situation where it is feasible, Catholic Family Care specialists come to such families and provide support for a limited, short period of time. They take care of the household or deal with the disabled child so that the parents experience relief.
The costs for this are covered by donations. To ensure that Catholic Family Care can continue to step in in such situations, the donation from the proWIN Foundation is used to replenish this "Families in Need" pot.
