DIE CLOWN DOKTOREN E.V.

THE CLOWN DOCTORS see themselves as comrades who want to accompany and support "their" little patients in the recovery process.

Clown doctor visits

The twelve children's hospitals in the Rhine-Main region and Central Hesse that have been supported by the association DIE CLOWN DOKTOREN e. V. for more than twenty years have had the best experiences with this recipe. The association organizes regular clown doctor visits there, bringing laughter, joy and variety into the lives of often seriously ill children in a sensitive way. And with this medicine, DIE CLOWN DOKTOREN e. V. now also want to bring humor and laughter into the often very withdrawn everyday lives of elderly people in retirement homes.

After the "demand" for visits from clown doctors for senior citizens became increasingly urgent, a team of specially trained artists started the gentle, humorous "therapy" in a first retirement home in September 2009. They now regularly visit several facilities for senior citizens. Since 2012, our clown doctors have also been visiting the Bärenherz children's hospice in Wiesbaden and, since 2013, the children in the Bärenstark intensive care unit. The clown doctors are freelance artists who are trained and educated by DIE CLOWN DOKTOREN e.V. for their sensitive task. They sensitively and professionally recognize which clown treatment is suitable for their respective counterpart. They transplant clown noses and subject the children and senior citizens they visit to a thorough laughter test. The clown doctors come to the rooms at regular intervals, always in pairs as a funny "doctor" team and only after prior consultation with the staff and a friendly "May we come in?".

The regularity of the clown doctors' visits is particularly important in addition to the healing effect of laughter and humor on young and old. The clown doctors' visits are financed purely from donations. Only with the help of donors, sponsors and volunteers can the children's hospitals and retirement homes be visited continuously.
