The children's clinic on the Winterberg in Saarbrücken is the only facility in the region that offers comprehensive inpatient care for children of all ages - from premature babies to adolescents. The focus here is on child-oriented and holistic therapies that actively involve the families and take psychological and social aspects into account. In addition to general paediatric and adolescent medicine, the clinic focuses on specialized areas such as neurology, lung diseases, developmental disorders and the treatment of kidney diseases. Critically ill newborns in particular benefit from close cooperation with Homburg University Hospital and the highest standard of care in the clinic's perinatal center.
A current project of the Winterberg Children's Clinic, which we were able to support as the proWIN Foundation, is the purchase of a so-called giraffe incubator for the neonatal ward. This state-of-the-art incubator creates a protected and controlled micro-environment that offers safety and stability, especially for premature babies. With precise temperature and humidity regulation as well as monitoring of vital values, it enables the little ones to receive optimal care in the often critical first weeks of life. This is a great relief for the families concerned, as their children are in the best hands and receive loving care and medical attention.
