70 years of World Children's Day - Together for children's rights

On 20 September, we celebrate the 70th anniversary of World Children's Day - a significant milestone that reminds us how important it is to protect and promote the rights and needs of children worldwide. Under this year's motto ‘Into the future with children's rights’, we are focussing on children's rights and sending a clear signal for a child-friendly and sustainable future.

To mark this special occasion, our proWIN Foundation presented the special publication ‘Stop! Violence against children in collaboration with the Wochenspiegel newspaper at . This publication is intended to draw attention to the urgent need to protect and promote children's rights and, above all, to live them in everyday life. After all, children's rights are not only a moral right, but also a legal obligation enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

World Children's Day, which was established by the United Nations in 1954, is a platform for drawing attention to the special rights of children and placing them at the centre of social and political discussions. Whether protection from violence, the right to education or the right to a carefree childhood - all these rights must be lived and actively promoted in order to create a fair and future-oriented world.

Why is the protection of children's rights so important?

Children are the future of our society. Their well-being and their rights must be prioritised, not only in Germany but worldwide. This year's World Children's Day reminds us that children's rights must not just exist on paper. They must be lived and implemented in everyday life. A society that respects and protects children's rights is investing in its own future and in the creation of a fairer world.

Our commitment to children's rights

Our foundation, which was established in 2010, has been actively committed to sustainably improving the lives of children in need at home and abroad since its inception. We are proud to make an important contribution to the protection and promotion of children's rights through various projects and collaborations.
